Digital Product Passport

Every product tells its full story.

Issue EU-compliant Digital Product Passports as scannable QR codes built on the GS1 Digital Link standard. Surface the right data to consumers, trading partners, and regulators — each through their own access layer — and communicate that data along every step of your supply chain without rebuilding it.

EU ESPR mandate — Battery passports become mandatory Feb 2027 (EU 2023/1542). Textile, furniture, and iron-and-steel DPP rollouts follow in 2027; electronics through 2030 under ESPR (EU 2024/1781). Traceage templates are kept current as each delegated act finalises.

How it works

From batch close to scan-ready in four steps.

01

Select a template

Pick a regulator-aligned template (EU 2023/1542 Battery, EU 2024/1781 ESPR, PEFCR) or build a custom schema. New mandates ship as ready-to-bind templates.

02

Map your data

Connect fields from your existing traceability, HACCP, and supplier data. No parallel data entry — the passport reads from the chain you already track.

03

Assign audience layers

Decide which fields are public (consumer), partner (trade), or regulator-only. Per-field audience scoping with audit trails on every access event.

04

Generate & publish

A signed QR code with a GS1 Digital Link URL is generated per product or batch — verifiable in any standard scanner, with built-in Polygon blockchain anchoring on every passport.

Six capabilities

Everything a regulator-ready passport needs.

Multi-layer data access

A single passport URL serves three audiences simultaneously. Each layer is scope-controlled with a full audit trail — consumer, trade partner, regulator.

  • 1.Per-field audience scoping rules
  • 2.Audit trail on every access event
  • 3.OAuth2 / JWT-secured trade APIs

GS1 Digital Link generation

Generate a single signed URL conforming to the GS1 Digital Link standard. Compatible with any standard QR scanner — no proprietary apps required.

  • 1.GTIN · SSCC · GS1-128 encoded
  • 2.NFC tag pairing for serial-unit packaging
  • 3.One-click bulk QR per batch

Regulation-ready templates

Pre-built schemas that map directly to mandatory fields under EU and global frameworks. ESPR, Battery, PEFCR, and sectoral templates included out of the box.

  • 1.EU 2023/1542 Battery Regulation
  • 2.EU 2024/1781 ESPR sectoral schemas
  • 3.PEFCR + custom schema builder

Sustainability data layer

Exposes verifiable supply chain data — Scope 1/2/3 emissions, material composition, recycled content, and certification chains — at the audience layer you choose.

  • 1.Carbon footprint per unit (Scope 1/2/3)
  • 2.Material composition + recyclability
  • 3.Repairability index (where mandated)

Blockchain anchoring

Tamper-evident by default — the Open baseline of our three visibility layers. Every DPP record is anchored to an immutable Polygon ledger with audit-grade timestamps. Witnessed and Sealed layers add selective-disclosure and zero-knowledge guarantees on top.

  • 1.Polygon-anchored hash on every passport
  • 2.Audit-grade UTC timestamping
  • 3.Continuous snapshot integrity proofs

Trading partner API

A documented gateway for downstream supply chain partners. Retailers, distributors, recyclers, and certifying bodies query DPP records directly — no Traceage login required.

  • 1.Documented REST + GraphQL endpoints
  • 2.Per-partner API key authentication
  • 3.Webhook events on DPP changes
Visibility layers

Three layers of cryptographic visibility — each one yours to control.

Every DPP field can be tagged Open, Witnessed, or Sealed. The same record can serve a public scan, a credentialed partner audit, and a regulator-grade verification — each backed by a different cryptographic guarantee, all under owner control.

Built-in

Open

SHA-256 · public hash

Plaintext data with a hash commitment anchored on Polygon. Anyone with the GS1 URL can recompute the hash and independently verify the record on-chain.

  • Carbon footprint claims
  • Origin & producer
  • Public certifications
  • Allergen disclosures
Q2 2027

Witnessed

BBS+ · selective disclosure

Field-encrypted data with cryptographic witnesses. Auditors, regulators, and certifying bodies decrypt only the fields they are authorised to see — proof per field, not per record.

  • Supplier audit trails
  • Trade partner composition data
  • Regulator-only HACCP records
  • Selective material composition
Pilot 2028

Sealed

ZK-SNARK · zero-knowledge

Fully encrypted data. Prove a property (e.g. "pesticide residue ≤ EU limit") without ever revealing the underlying number. Only the owner holds the key.

  • Proprietary formulas
  • Hidden supplier identities
  • Trade secrets
  • Compliance proofs without disclosure

Orthogonal to the audience tabs. A field tagged Sealed can still be unlocked for the Regulator audience via zero-knowledge proof. Two independent dimensions of control — what is visible, and to whom.

ESPR mandate timeline

When does your sector get hit?

The EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542 and the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (EU 2024/1781) are rolling out in waves between 2027 and 2030. Five waves, dozens of product categories — and a template is ready for each.

Feb 2027

Batteries

First sector under the EU Battery Regulation. EV batteries, industrial batteries >2 kWh, and light-means-of-transport batteries require a passport from day one.

EU 2023/1542

2027

Textiles · Furniture · Iron · Steel · Aluminium

First ESPR wave under EU 2024/1781. Priority sectors enter the Digital Product Passport regime, with delegated acts setting per-sector data requirements.

EU 2024/1781

2028

Tyres · Detergents · Paints · Lubricants

Second ESPR wave. Chemicals-adjacent product categories enter scope, with material composition, hazard data, and recycled-content disclosure required.

EU 2024/1781

2028 – 2030

Electronics & ICT

Phased rollout across consumer electronics, ICT, and white goods. Component genealogy, repairability index, and recycled-content claims all flow through the passport.

EU 2024/1781

Sectoral

Construction · Energy products · More

Sector-specific delegated acts adding new product groups over time. Templates ship with the platform — new mandate, no schema work.

ESPR delegated acts
Two-axis payload

One JSON-LD record. Audience and visibility, on every field.

The DPP record is GS1- and ISO-aligned JSON-LD. Every field carries both an audience tag (who sees it) and a visibility tag (how it is cryptographically anchored) — the same URL serves consumer scans, trade-partner APIs, and regulator audits with the right guarantee per field.

  • JSON-LD with GS1 + ISO 8000-115 context
  • Per-field audience tags (Consumer / Trade / Regulator)
  • Per-field visibility tags (Open / Witnessed / Sealed)
  • Signed hash anchored on Polygon by default
  • Cross-walked to ESPR, Battery, PEFCR schemas

By industry

Every product gets a passport. Some sooner than others.

Twenty-one verticals, ordered by ESPR mandate priority. Two are first in line — batteries (via electronics) and textiles. Three more enter the mandate in 2027–2028. The rest carry voluntary or complementary DPP today, and gain mandates in waves.

Fashion & textiles

The biggest non-battery DPP mandate. EU 2024/1781 makes textile passports mandatory from 2027, phased through 2030. Material composition, recycled content, supplier traceability, and microfibre disclosure — every garment carries its chain.

  • EU 2024/1781 ESPR
  • EU 1007/2011
  • CSRD
  • ZDHC MRSL

Electronics & manufacturing

EU 2023/1542 makes battery passports mandatory from Feb 2027. ESPR extends DPP requirements across electronics 2028–2030. Component genealogy, repairability index, and recycled-content disclosure — built from the supplier chain you already trace.

Batch to scan

From batch close to scan-ready in under ten seconds.

The DPP is issued automatically the moment a batch closes — six steps, fully auditable, ready for consumers, partners, and regulators alike.

  1. 0:00

    Batch closes

Traceability events are finalised. The batch record carries provenance, supplier chain, HACCP CCP results, and certification references.

  2. 0:02

    Template applied

The regulator-aligned schema (e.g. EU 2024/1781 textile DPP) is bound to the batch. Mandatory fields are auto-filled from existing trace data.

  3. 0:03

    Audience layers assigned

Per-field scoping is applied — consumer sees allergens and origin, trade sees composition and certifications, regulator sees the full chain.

  4. 0:05

    QR generated · DPP signed

A GS1 Digital Link URL is encoded into a signed QR code. NFC tag pairing happens in parallel for serial-unit packaging.

  5. 0:06

    Blockchain anchor

The DPP hash is anchored to Polygon for tamper-evident integrity — applied to every passport, not just opt-in batches. Built-in, no extra charge.

  6. 0:08

    Scan-ready

Consumer scan pages, trade partner APIs, and regulator export channels are all live. The product can now tell its full story.
